Newark author's The World In Lockdown book explores experiences of a year unlike any other
It was one day in early 2021 that Lisa began to write and process her story of 2020.
It had been a year of great change for her, moving back to the UK after over a decade travelling, reuniting with a childhood love, and suddenly awakening to the beauty of her home country that she never truly embraced before.
It really triggered some sort of awakening inside of her, that she now describes as the most powerful year of her life.
After writing her experience, she discovered many of her friends from around the world had similar life-changing experiences, so she encouraged them all to write also.
The World In Lockdown is a collaboration of stories by Lisa Li, from Newark, and other authors.
“To write our story has been super healing for us all, to document all that we have been through, and all that we have learned,” Lisa said.
“Thirty-one writers from around the world, from different backgrounds, but all with a similar view — to take the silver lining from these tough life lessons, and to come out the other side stronger, more humble, and more in love with life’s wild journey.
“This book was a magical manifestation of all our stories combined.
“Apart from it being a real insight into many different cultures and countries, to show a perspective perhaps missed in the news reports on TV.
“We write in hope that others may be comforted by our stories - that people may resonate with a lot of the things that we went through and that it can bring healing for the reader.
“We truly hope it’s as healing to read as it was for us to write.”
The book is available through Amazon and at The Fuji Shop on Middlegate, and Kirkgate Health Foods, both Newark.
