Newark beauty salon owner returns to window art-making as a tribute to The Queen

A beauty salon owner has attracted admiring glances for her inspiring and arty window displays and has now done one honouring The Queen.

The owner of Salon 172, Danielle Lister, first started her window art during the last lockdown as a way inspire and support others.

Her previous themes include the Poppy Appeal and Maggie’s, the cancer charity.

“When I see my neighbours they’re always asking me when my next window is coming, what I have planned and what it will be,” said Danielle.

The salon, which is to the rear of Danielle’s house at 172 Hawton Road, Newark, now proudly displays a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In one of the windows there is The Queen holding the hand of Paddington Bear, made famous from the recent skit the Monarch did with the children's favourite, and on the other a picture of The Queen in gold wearing her crown.

“I was on Facebook seeing people’s goodbyes and there was that one that said something like 'goodbye I can go now, go to my husband', and Paddington was walking with her into the ring and I thought I have to do that one,” she said.

“I felt quite emotional doing it.”

With a passion for beauty and art, Danielle is already thinking of her next windows for Christmas time, to not let her fans down.

“It’s just about finding the time," she said.

“It’s lovely when people like to see what I do, they walk past, they look, they smile, they give me a thumbs' up and I like to believe I’ve been approved.”
