Newark Business Awards ceremony goes online with Gusto Group's Collab virtual venue
The winners of this year’s Newark Business Awards will be able to have their time in the spotlight with a ceremony after all.
The Advertiser has teamed up with Gusto Group, of Collingham, to host an online ceremony on Friday, December 11.
It will provide all the suspense and excitement of a black-tie awards ceremony, but from the comfort of your own home.
It will feature everything you would expect from an awards ceremony — a speaker, presentations and even the chance to network with others — all in a covid-secure way.
The ceremony will be broadcast using Gusto’s new virtual platform, Collab.
This virtual venue is set out exactly like an awards ceremony, with guests allocated to tables — although they can easily move around to chat to other people — and a stage for the winners to receive their trophies.
The platform has already been tested at Newark Business Club and has successfully hosted an awards ceremony.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to host this year’s Newark Business Awards ceremony after all, albeit in a very different format to usual,” said Advertiser editor Sharon Hodkin.
“Having seen Collab in action at Newark Business Club, I am very confident that this is the perfect solution for us.
“It allows our guests to mix with others at the ceremony and enjoy the occasion and, most importantly, allows us to honour our very worthy winners publicly.”
The judges have been busy deciding the winners and highly-commended in each of the ten categories, which will be announced at the ceremony, along with a special award for this year — the Covid-19 Bounce Back Award.
The event will be compered from a studio by Radio Lincolnshire broadcaster Melvyn Prior.
The winners will receive trophies designed and made by students at Newark College.
After the ceremony, all the winners and runners-up will be featured in a 16-page supplement in the Advertiser, as well as extensively on social media.
