Newark business Petit Versailles shortlisted at British Business Awards





A Newark business has been shortlisted for the British Business Awards amongst over 700 entries.

Hajra Kemari, the owner of Petit Versailles on Stodman Street, Newark has recently been recognised with the highly commended award in the businessperson category at the Newark Business Awards.

The business was shortlisted for the Retail Business of the Year at the national award competition which is taking place on November 14 in Central London.

The Portuguese designer and shop owner opened her business on Stodman Street, Newark ten years ago after having moved countries.

At her shop, she offers a wide range of goods and services including jewellery, accessories, millinery and new and pre-loved fashion.

Working alongside her sister, Hajra’s store provides quality alterations, design and production of bridal gowns, cosplay, steampunk and retro.

“Petit Versailles has already been given the title of — A Beacon for Newark — by the hugely popular National Steampunk Society and has long been the go-to destination for brides seeking Hajra’s expert needlework skills.”

In recent months Hajra added a fabric and haberdashery section to Petit Versailles, selling fabrics, sequins, feathers and other finery.

She added: “Newark is unique and I hope in my own way I am helping to keep that uniqueness alive”.
