Nottinghamshire County Council’s Newark West by-election candidates now confirmed after nomination deadline passes
The candidates in the upcoming Newark West by-election have now been confirmed.
The final list of those standing for election in the Nottinghamshire County Council division has been published after prospective candidates were given a deadline of Friday (June 6) to submit their nominations papers.
Six political parties are fielding candidates, an increase from when the division was contested in the May 1 local elections.
The Newark West by-election will take place on Thursday, July 3.
Registered candidates (listed alphabetically by surname) are:
• Keith Girling — Local Conservatives
• Rosemary Johnson Sabine — Liberal Democrats
• Andrew Leatherland — Social Democratic Party
• Matthew Spoors — Green Party
The by-election will be administered by Newark and Sherwood District Council, and polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm, on July 3.
Residents of Newark West have until June 17 to register to vote, if they have not already done so. Postal votes must be submitted by 5pm on June 18.
