Newark charity Think Children receives generous donation from Trade Freight International

Newark-based Think Children has been given £1,000 by export packing company Trade Freight International and Irish Groupage Ltd.

Andrew Morris, group chairman of the freight and logistics company, chose Think Children as the group of company’s charity of the year in memory of his friend, Jenny Gadsby, who was a trustee of the charity before she died at Christmas.

Jenny had been on the board of Think Children since 2015 and in that time her commitment, financial expertise and passion for making a difference to children’s lives helped to shape the charity in a highly effective way.

Mr Morris said: “Jenny was just a wonderful lady, whose larger than life character made a positive impact on not only those who knew her personally, but also through the generous time she gave to the charities she was so actively involved in.”

Further donations and fundraising events are planned by the group during the next 12 months.

Mr Morris said: “We hope to continue our involvement with Think Children and build on our initial donation, which we know goes to help our local community.”

Think Children offers an early intervention service for children who may be struggling to cope with emerging emotional, social and/or behavioural issues.

One-to-one sessions with a specially trained worker aim to build self-esteem, emotional resilience and coping skills before issues have the opportunity to escalate, becoming harder and more costly to resolve.

Wendy Walton-Towle, of Think Children, said: “We are extremely grateful to Mr Morris for this very generous donation.

“With the covid crisis and ongoing government funding cuts, donations such as this are the charity’s lifeline and enable us to help more local children reach their full potential.

“Parents have told us that nobody wants to know until it’s too late so we still fill a gap in local services.”

The Newark-based Trade Freight International is an industry award-winning logistics provider, offering freight forwarding, export packing, haulage and projects with more than 30 supplier offices located across six continents.
