Newark firefighters deal with three tonnes of straw on fire in Balderton




Three tonnes of straw on fire was dealt with by Newark firefighters.

Crews from Newark were called to a fire in the open on Hollowdyke Lane, Balderton, at 3.45pm on Saturday.

They were met with around three tonnes of straw on fire.

Crews used one hose jet reel, two flexi backpacks, a drag rake and beaters to put out the blaze.

"Crews from #NewarkStn16 attended a fire in the open on Hollowdyke Lane, Balderton," wrote Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service on Twitter.

"This was approximately three tonnes of straw on fire. Crews used 1 hose reel jet, 2 flexi back packs, a drag rake and beaters to extinguish the fire."
