Historic proclamation stall used by Newark town clerk to officially proclaim King Charles III King to be broadcasted on BBC One Bargain Hunt
A Newark royal antique is to appear on BBC one reality game show today as part of a Coronation special.
The Proclamattion Stool used by Newark town clerk Matthew Gleadell to read out King Charles III proclamation is due to appear on Bargain Hunt at 12.15pm today.
The town clerk stood on the traditional proclamation stool — used in the town for hundreds of years — to deliver the announcement last September.
Broadcasted a day before the King’s Coronation, the host visited Newark to talk about the antique that is in exhibition at the Town Hall.
The stool is at the museum as part of the current Balderton Art Group Coronation exhibition in the Town Hall Spotlight Gallery.
Newark town Crier, David Jones will be appearing on the programme.
The town clerk said: “Newark Antiques market is one of the biggest in Europe and is a regular venue for Bargain Hunt.”
To those who are not able to watch the programme today, it will be on iPlayer for 30 days after its transmission date.
