Newark man charged with drink-driving following police pursuit

A 20-year-old man from Newark has been charged with several driving offences following a police pursuit.

Nottinghamshire Police were alerted to concerns surrounding a silver Jeep Cherokee which was being driven at around 7.30am on Wednesday.

Newark response officers located the vehicle on Great North Road. The driver tried to evade police and the vehicle was soon found abandoned.

A man was arrested nearby following an area search.

Kieran Lee, of Tithe Barn Court, was subsequently charged with driving whilst disqualified, driving whilst over the prescribed limit for alcohol and driving without insurance.

The 20-year-old will now appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday September 29.
