Newark Town FC responds to matchday parking concerns on Sconce and Devon Park

Following concerns about matchday parking impacting on residents Newark Town FC have issued a response.

The concerns come from those living in the Valley Prospect area of Newark who say that there is an influx of on-street parking on weekends at Sconce and Devon Park, preventing residents from safely exiting driveways and making it difficult for buses and the emergency services to get through.

A petition signed by a group of residents from the area was also set up and presented to Nottinghamshire County Councillor Keith Girling to see what could be done to alleviate the problem.

A representative from Newark Town FC has issued a response the concerns about the matchday parking, saying:

"Newark Town FC have always been proactive in being good neighbours to the local Valley Prospects residents and regularly communicate with match attendees from home and away teams to park sensibly and respectfully around Devon Park.

"We suggest car sharing, cycling and walking by local families, as well as highlighting alternative parking ie. near The Spring House and near Rumbles.

"We are so conscious of the amount of vehicles entering the area, that we have recently employed, at our own expense, our own parking Marshall for weekend match days to help manage the situation.

"We do everything we can to keep everyone happy but have to accept that the car park supporting this ever popular green space which is not only used for football, but park runners and dog walkers alike, is now just too small to accommodate all its visitors."
