Newark woman who rammed into car head-on, injuring children, is banned from the roads

A Newark woman who crashed into a car head-on, injuring several children, has been banned from the roads.

Leah Williams, 28, of Welbeck Avenue, was disqualified for 12 months and will have to take a re-test if she wants to drive again.

Although charged with careless driving, Nottingham magistrates felt Williams had been undercharged and instead saw it as dangerous driving.

Magistrates said the matter was aggravated by the high degree of harm, namely the children in the back of the complainant's car and leaving the complainant without a car as it was written off.

Williams was also uninsured at the time of the crash and so had six points added to her licence, totted for six months.

She was fined a total of £816.
