Newark Southern Link Road project developers Urban & Civic not yet confirmed opening date for next section of road between Bowbridge Lane to Hawton Road, Newark

No date has yet been agreed for the opening of the next section of the Newark Southern Link Road.

The last section of the road to open to the public was between the Welcome Break in Fernwood and Bowbridge Lane, in October of last year.

The middle stretch, connecting Bowbridge Lane to Hawton Road, Newark, was scheduled to open next, with a rough date given for the start of spring 2025.

When previously contacted by the Advertiser in February, project developers Urban & Civic stated that completion was “expected towards the end of spring.”

Now in the Summer months, and with no clear signs of opening, an official opening date has still not been agreed.

A representative for Urban & Civic, said: "We have some final pieces of work to do but we are looking to open the road soon and are working with the relevant local authorities to do so.

“We will keep people updated when we are in a position to agree a date.”

The third and final phase of the development — between Farndon and Hawton — is currently being carried out by Brehenny Engineering with a scheduled completion date of September 2026.

Once fully complete, the Southern Link Road will connect the A46 to the A1 south of Newark via a 5km stretch of new road.
