Riley Price and Mantana Price, both 19, of Newark, sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court for assault outside of Club X




Two teenagers who carried out an assault outside a nightclub have been handed community orders.

Riley Price, 19, of Tolney Lane, Newark, and Mantana Price, also 19, of Barnby Road, Newark, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on May 22 for sentencing.

Riley Price faced two charges of assault by beating, and Mantana Price one charge of assault by beating and one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

It related to an incident outside Club X, on Castlegate, on September 21, 2024, when two victims were attacked.

The pair pleaded guilty to all offences during a previous hearing on April 17.

Riley Price was sentenced to 20 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £100 in compensation, and a further 60 hours of unpaid work, 15 days of rehabilitation activity, and £100 compensation for the assault on the second victim.

Mantana Price was sentenced to 30 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £100 in compensation for his assault by beating charge, and a further 10 days of rehabilitation activity, 150 hours of unpaid work, and £500 in compensation for the assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both were also ordered to pay costs of £199.

•Another teenager who carried out an assault, and behaved in a disorderly manner in a town centre supermarket, was sentenced on the same day.

Brooklyn Petit, 18, of Wolfit Avenue, Balderton, admitted to using threatening, abusive, or disorderly words or behaviour or at Morrisons on Kings Road, Newark, on October 24, 2024.

He was fined £80 and ordered to pay costs of £85 for the office.

Petit also pleaded guilty to an assault by beating in the town, on November 5, 2024, for which he was ordered to pay £50 in compensation and was fined £120.

•John Lewell, 44, of Greenway, Newark, was also sentenced for an assault by beating offence on May 22.

Lewell pleaded guilty, jointly with another offender, to beating another person at Newark Sports and Fitness Centre, Lord Hawke Way, on September 11, 2024.

He was ordered to pay £50 in compensation, costs of £133, and a fine of £120.

•Robert Ord, 51, of no fixed address, was jailed for numerous shoplifting offences in Newark when he appeared at the court on May 23.

Ord admitted he stole £12 of chocolate and £20 of dishwasher tablets from Boyes on April 27, £8.75 of wine and sandwiches from Co-Op on May 1, two bottles of wine worth £6.50 and £9 from Co-Op on May 19, and wine worth £6.50 from Co-op on May 22.

For each of the six offences Ord was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, to be served concurrently, due to his “flagrant disregard for people and their property”.

He must also pay £92.75 in compensation.

•Another serial shoplifter who stole chocolate, toys, and steak, and was also found in possession of cannabis, has been handed a suspended sentence.

Christopher Hall, 40, of Rubys Walk, Fernwood, also appeared before a district judge on May 22, where he entered guilty pleas.

On April 13, he stole four steaks, to the value of £60, from M&S; on April 17, he stole £93 worth of chocolate from B&M; on April 20, he stole £5.30 of chocolate from Lincolnshire Co-op; on May 15, he stole £40 worth of toys from B&M; and on May 21, he was found in possession of Class B drug cannabis.

Hall was handed a six month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months due to him being “willing to comply and want[ing] help from the Probation Service”, for each theft, to be served concurrently.

He was also ordered to pay compensation to the value of the items taken from each store, attend 15 days of rehabilitation activity, and the drugs were ordered to be destroyed.

•A shoplifter who made off with cheese and wine has been ordered to pay compensation for his thefts.

Andrew Crowder, 40, of Mill Green, Newark, appeared in court on May 16, where he pleaded guilty to two offences and was sentenced.

On April 3 he stole £12.50 worth of wine, and on April 10 he stole £14.60 of cheese and wine from Co-op, Newark.

He was ordered to pay back the value of the items in compensation for each offence, was fined £60, and ordered to pay costs of £85.

•Klein Buchanan, 28, of Moor Lane, East Stoke, was sentenced for criminal damage on May 21.

He pleaded guilty to, on May 23, 2024, damaging a side window in Nottingham valued at under £5,000, intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.

Buchanan was fined £120, and ordered to pay costs of £85.

•A drink-driver has been banned from the roads for two years and four months.

On April 25, Scott Johnson, 34, of Dale Crescent, Fernwood, drove a Land Rover on Bowbridge Lane, Middlebeck, with 64 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath — above the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

He was also uninsured and didn’t have a licence permitting him to drive the vehicle.

Johnson was fined £450, and ordered to pay costs of £265 when he appeared in court on May 13, where he pleaded guilty to all three offences.

He was given the opportunity to reduce his disqualification by 40 weeks by successfully completing a course.

•Also disqualified on May 23 was Curtis Deller, 33, of Steeles Way, Lambley, who drove with an alcohol level of 125 milligrams in 100 millilitres of blood — above the legal limit of 80 milligrams.

Deller admitted the offence, which occurred on March 9 on Forest Lane, Papplewick.

He was disqualified for 14 months with a reduction of 14 weeks upon successful completion of a course, fined £880, and ordered to pay costs of £437.

•A disqualified driver who got behind the wheel has been further barred from driving for eight months, and fined £300.

Martyn Godson, 47, of Mansfield Road, Farnsfield, drove a BMW on Diamond Avenue, Kirkby in Ashfield, on February 23, while banned.

He was also uninsured at the time — and was found guilty of both offences in his absence on May 22.

Godson was also ordered to pay costs of £205.

•A motorist who failed to stop at a red traffic light appeared before the court on May 19, and admitted the offence.

Ouarda Aroui, 46, of Ring Leas, Cotgrave, drove a Mercedes through a red light 1.3 seconds after it turned red, on the A6011 Radcliffe Road/Regatta Way, West Bridgford, on September 5, 2024.

Aroui was fined £120, ordered to pay costs of £158, and was handed three penalty points.

•Also on May 19, Katy Beard, 35, of Strawberry Fields, Sutton on Trent, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for exceeding a 30mph speed limit while driving a Nissan on the A6075 Ollerton Road, Edwinstowe, on July 10, 2024.

Beard was fined £66, ordered to pay costs of £136, and had four points added to her licence.

•Another speeding driver, David Robinson, 53, of Hagg Lane, Epperstone, was fined £230 and had three points added to his licence.

Robinson pleaded guilty to exceeding the 30mph speed limit while driving a Ford on Spring Lane, Mapperley Plains, on September 25, 2024.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £202 when he appeared in court on May 13.

•Also sentenced on May 13 was Codey Donnelly, 26, of Rutland Avenue, Newark.

Donnelly pleaded guilty to, on October 30, 2024, failing to give police information relating to the identification of the driver of a Ford alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Six penalty points were added to Donnelly’s licence, and a fine of £200 and costs of £310 were also imposed.

•Laettisha Ponder, 21, of Lawrence Close, Cotgrave, was fined £120 and had six points added to her licence for failing to give police information relating to the identification of the driver of a Volkswagen alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Ponder was also ordered to pay costs of £158 for the offence which took place on October 9, 2024, which she had pleaded guilty to.

•Also guilty of failing to provide information about a driver of a vehicle was Sherene Anderson, 32, of Marshall V C Drive, Newark.

Anderson was found guilty in her absence on May 21, for the offence which occurred on October 10, 2024, and related to the identification of a Vauxhall driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

She was fined £666, ordered to pay costs of £374, and had six points added to her licence.

•Richard Rooney, 42, of Kennedy Rise, Walesby, was fined £120 for failing to give police information about the driver of a Seat alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

He entered a guilty plea for the offence, on December 20, 2024, and had six points added to his licence and was order to pay costs of £148.
