Newark Golf Club raises £3,000 for Beaumond House Hospice Care thanks to Pratt & Gelsthorpe charity day

A golf club has raised £3,000 for a Newark charity.

Newark Golf Club presented Beaumond House Hospice Care with a £3,000 cheque at the end of its annual hole-in-one competition.

The fun day, which cost £10 to take part in, gave players the chance to win a Peugeot 208 car — should they score an ace at the 15th hole.

Pat Roche, seniors’ captain at the golf club, said: “It was a very enjoyable day and it was great to continue the tradition because it has been going for a number of years.

“Somebody went very close, the closest in recent years because we don’t normally worry them (the sponsors).”

Richard Gelsthorpe, managing director of Pratt & Gelsthorpe, who sponsored the challenge, said: “As soon as I knew it was an event raising money for Beaumond House I agreed to sponsor it.

“We have been involved with them over a few years in various fundraising events, including a big draw to win a new car.

“It is such an obvious choice when it comes to supporting a charity on our door step, especially when they do such a great job.”
