Reader's letter: Nonsense decision

More news, no ads

It is hard to believe that Newark and Sherwood District Council has again had a plan that makes no sense.

In July 2019 the lorry park at Newark re-opened at a cost of nearly £2m. The council said this made it one of the best, if not the best, in the country.

Now, they want to close it and build another at Newark Showground (Towns Fund Projects Start To Take Shape, Advertiser, November 19).

Also, the cattle market, part of Newark, nothing wrong with it but again let’s bulldoze it and rebuild on the showground.

It seems a third party is interested. Show them the one in Newark. There has always been a cattle market in the town.

I can’t see lorry drivers driving their trucks into Newark to get food.

Build your training centre and hotel on the showground site instead. — J. GULLIFORD, Newark.
