When officers from Nottinghamshire Police arrived at the scene, they conducted an area search and established that the Post Office’s window had been smashed by an unknown offender.

It is thought that someone had then entered the store and stolen scratch cards from within the Post Office.

A 46-year-old man was located near the scene and quickly arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Ricky Ellis, of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Our officers acted quickly to locate and arrest a man in connection with the report of burglary.

“We recovered the stolen scratch cards as part of our investigation and are now working hard to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“Burglary can have a massive impact on businesses and we will always investigate reports made to us thoroughly.

“I’d ask that anyone with any information about the incident to get in touch with us on 101 and quote incident number 17 of 29 June 2020.”
