About 250 people attended a play-in-the-park event in Balderton, where children went on trampolines, made butterflies and played football.
Many families went to the event on Coronation Street playing fields.
Although aimed at five-12-year-olds, children up to the age of 18 and under-fives also attended.
Activities including golf, mini scooters and an inflatable slide.
The event, organised by the Newark and Sherwood Play Support Group, was one of many paid for through a Big Lottery Grant.
Mrs Jill Musson, a play development co-ordinator, said: “It was a really good day and very successful.”
She said a request had been made for another one.
