Newark and Sherwood Op Reacher in market place raising awareness of knife crime

Newark and Sherwood Op Reacher will be in the market place this morning (Tuesday).

Officers will be raising awareness of knife crime, current legislation and Nottinghamshire Police's force wide response: Operation Sceptre.

Operation Sceptre is just a snapshot of the ongoing year-round work being carried out to combat knife crime in Nottinghamshire which involves police, partners and local communities all working together.

The latest official figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that knife crime has continued to significantly fall in Nottinghamshire.

The figures show knife crime has fallen by 25% in the last three years, including a 10% drop in the last year (year to June 2021).

The force has asked people to keep reporting information about knife crime in their areas so officers can help keep them safe.
