Reader's letter: Open doors

Newark Town Council’s continued reluctance to re-open the Spotlight Gallery and Museum requires more explanation than Town Clerk Alan Mellor appears willing to give.

The items held there — which include various valuable artworks — should be available for residents of Newark and visiting tourists to enjoy.

Whatever the eventual outcome of the council’s deliberations, there seems no compelling reason for the art gallery and museum to remain closed during the interim.

People are being denied the opportunity of appreciating one of Newark’s most interesting and historic attractions. — P. CONFORD, Collingham.
