Operation Reacher has been engaging with the public in Newark Market Place today
Newark and Sherwood Police's Operation Reacher team took the opportunity for a first public engagement day today (Saturday).
Officers from Reacher were in the market place.
One officer said: "Today has been our first engagement opportunity for 2021, which took place in Newark Market Place.
"We had plenty of interest and questions covering all sorts of topics from what Operation Reacher is all about to general questions on policing and if we are watching Line of Duty!
"It was good to meet you and we hope to announce some further engagement days in the near future.
"We have been busy out and about working in Newark and Sherwood supporting response and Safer Neighbourhoods.
"This week we helped our colleagues in Norfolk in the arrest of a male and search of an address in Sherwood.
"Yesterday saw us conduct a drugs warrant in Newark following some self-generated work from the team and a quantity of drugs were recovered.
"We have been fulfilling our force wide commitment in the searching of a property in Nottingham, which was part of a large scale police operation as well as conducting patrols in Mansfield and Newark for the reopening of pubs.
"It is great to see people out and about again and with the staged lifting of restrictions and we hope to meet you in the near future during our engagement days. Remember you can contact us OpReacher-N&S@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk"
