Opinion divided

By NewarkAdvertiser Reporter

There seem to be mixed views regarding Marks and Spencer’s proposed move to the Northgate retail park (Grave Concerns Over M&S Plan, Advertiser, May 10).

I can understand how it will be seen as a loss to the town centre, as councillor Keith Girling has identified, but also the anticipation of those batting for a larger store, since the size of the current premises has resulted in quite a small range of goods for some time.

I wonder, however, if it is either/or, or whether M&S could be persuaded to let Newark have both?

A large M&S outlet at Northgate and a food-only store on Stodman Street, perhaps with a café for visitors? — S. C. McCarthy, Newark (Full address supplied).
