Major detour planned during overnight closure of B6326 adjacent Welcome Break Services between Fernwood and Balderton to facilitate Newark Southern Link Road scheduled works

A detour is planned to facilitate overnight road works which are due to take place in August.

As work on the Newark Southern Link Road project progresses, a section of the B6326 adjacent Welcome Break Services, between Fernwood and Balderton, will close overnight for three nights.

This is to ensure the safety of workers as they carry out the final surfacing and connection of a new roundabout which is being built at the A1 end of the Link Road.

The closure is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, August 14 to Friday, August 16, from 8pm to 6am each night. The road will be fully reopened on the morning of Saturday, August 17.

While the closure is in effect, a detour will be in place via the A1 northbound to Coddington, or via the A1 southbound to Long Bennington.

To complete the new roundabout works, temporary traffic signals will also be in operation from Monday (July 22) onwards, to conduct preparation works.

Urban and Civic, the developers behind the Southern Link Road project, have apologised for the inconvenience and say they aim to minimise disruption.

It was added that the works have been scheduled to take place overnight and during the school holidays to reduce impact on day time traffic
