Party night to support #love4littleliam is a winner

A glove signed by former world heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury was among the raffle prizes at a Gold Glitter Party to raise money for Liam Andrew at the Atrium, Newark, on Saturday.

The boxer’s wife, Paris, is a friend of Katrina Webster, who helped her daughter, Shannon, to organise the event in aid of the Liam appeal.

The glove, signed Tyson 2 Fast Fury, was won by Shauna Barthorpe.

About 50 items were donated to the raffle with Shannon selling many of the tickets in the run-up to the event.

On the evening all entry fees before 11.30pm went to the appeal. Many of those attending wore yellow and gold.

Shannon said she decided to organise the event after hearing of the fundraising campaign organised by Liam’s family.

“I wanted to do something to help,” she said.

The raffle and party event raised £4,487, which the organisers rounded up to £4,500. The fundraising continued with a cake sale this week bringing the total so far to £4,588.

Donations can still be made at Shannon’s business, the Curl Up N Dye salon, or her mum’s shop, Little Blessings, both on Lombard Street, Newark.

Liam, of Beacon Heights, Newark, has a cancerous tumour, known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). It is aggressive and hard to treat. Surgery is not an option because of the danger of operating in such a critical area of the brain.

The public appeal is to raise £½m for any treatments Liam may need.
