English Democrats place national pride at heart of General Election campaign as they field Newark candidate Matthew Darrington
The English Democrats are fielding a candidate in Newark in the upcoming General Election, with national pride at its heart
Matthew Darrington, along with Independent candidate, Lyn Galbraith, were the last candidates to announce they would be running for election in the Newark constituency.
The English Democrats outlined its broad aims and objectives with the aim of the English Democrats is to build a society which ‘accommodates the interests of all the people of England’ in an ‘enlightened and democratic way’.
Priorities include creating a proportional representation system, devolution wherever possible, and the belief that those in power must be answerable to the people.
The party campaign for an Independent England, with an English Parliament, English Prime Minister, and directly elected English MPs.
They also support individual liberty and the reduced state involvement in people's lives, regarding itself as the defender of the freedoms, rights, and obligations of the individual.
There is also the belief that it is the responsibility of government to ensure that all citizens have access to high quality healthcare and education, which should be free at the point of supply, and to overhall the legal system and policing.
It is added that only the state can bring together the resources and long-term strategic planning that is necessary to create an integrated transport infrastructure.
The party pledge relieve pressure on the housing by bringing mass immigration to a complete end and to expel illegal immigrants.
On the environment they believe that consideration must be given to the long-term consequences of decision making, calls for restriction on green-belt planning, and more efficient use of clean energy.
The UK General Election is scheduled to take place on July 4.
