An artist with a passion for the countryside and wildlife is exhibiting her work in Southwell Library’s first art exhibition.

Mrs Sophia Montesanto, 44, of Westgate, Southwell, said she enjoyed painting a range of subjects, but especially animal wildlife, pets, and rural scenes.

She said: “I like paintings to have action within, so I use my imagination as well. With this being a rural area, I like to use the countryside and wildlife.”

The exhibition features 18 pieces of work — a mixture of Giclee prints, pencil drawings, oil paintings, and a watercolour.

Mrs Montesanto, a self-taught professional artist, grew up in Caythorpe and has been painting in oils and water colours since childhood.

She works in an art studio overlooking the minister, and also holds art classes for budding artists.
