Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund grant to pay for outdoor cycle fitness park at Winthorpe
Residents can use pedal power to help get in shape thanks to a grant for an outdoor static bikes.
Winthorpe Parish Council received £6,555 from Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund for the project.
Two static exercise bikes have now been installed to help residents improve their health and wellbeing.
They have been put in the grounds of the community centre, near to a children’s play area, so parents can use them while their children play.
“The play area at the community centre is very well used so we thought this would be the perfect place for the bikes to go.” said Phil Farmer, of Winthorpe Parish Council.
“We are very grateful to Tarmac for their donation, and for making this project possible.”
Additional donations to the project were made by Winthorpe Youth Club, which gave £1,500 and Thomas Brewer Charitable Trust with £2,000.
“We are pleased to have been able to support Winthrope Parish Council with this initiative.” said Kevin Mawby, quarry manager at Tarmac’s Langford Quarry.
“It is great to be able to give the community a way to exercise, without having to take out expensive gym memberships.”
