A town’s busiest shopping street has been described as an accident waiting to happen after it was pedestrianised to help enforce social distancing regulations.

King Street, Southwell, was closed by Nottinghamshire County Council to all through traffic on June 22 — excluding delivery and emergency vehicles.

But residents say some cyclists, cars and vans have ignored the closure.
