Penalty notices for under-age drinkers
Police have issued nine fixed-penalty notices to under-age drinkers or to the over 18s who bought them alcohol following a raid on a Southwell pub.
Officers found about 40 young people inside The Dumbles, Westgate.
Eleven were either under-age and showed signs of having had a drink or were over-18 and had bought alcoholic drinks for minors.
Nine youngsters were taken to Southwell Police Station and police called their parents.
As a result, all nine were issued with fixed-penalty notices, ranging from £40 to £60 depending on the degree of their involvement.
One youth accepted a police caution for possessing cannabis.
Two cases of possession of fake IDs continue to be investigated.
The licensing officer for Newark and Sherwood, Mr Paul Inman said the pub had been issued with a written warning following the raid.
He said the company that owned the business had been asked, although not ordered, to accept further conditions on its licence.
It has been asked to consider installing CCTV to cover blind spots inside the pub, to instigate a Challenge 25 policy, and keep and maintain a log of people who been refused service.
