Burglar charged at Nottingham Magistrates following assault to pensioner in Brandon Close, Balderton





An 80-year-old man was pushed to the floor, kicked and threatened with a hammer by a burglar.

A suspect arrested on February 4, has been charged following the burglary at the pensioner’s home in Brandon Close, Balderton.

It is unclear if anything was stolen during the incident, which happened shortly after 7.45pm on January 28.

Connor Cooper, 22, of Parliament Court, Newark, has been charged with burglary.

He remained in custody and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates yesterday (February 6).

Detective inspector Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:“This incident was extremely distressing for the victim and we are determined to secure justice for him.

“Following some good work by detectives, response units and neighbourhood officers, we have managed to charge a suspect.

“Violent crime and burglary will not be tolerated by Nottinghamshire Police and we will always do everything in our power to investigate incidents reported to us.”
