People who are homeless, or at risk of being so, has risen by nearly 40% in the district in a year.
The increase — put down to the cost-of-living crisis and coronavirus — means Newark and Sherwood District Council is having to employ more staff to tackle the situation.
Existing employees in the housing options team are under a lot of pressure, a cabinet meeting was told, and more staff may have to be taken on.
