Thousands of charities have created volunteering events ahead of King Charles III Coronation day
More than 1,500 charities have created a range of volunteering opportunities ahead of Coronation weekend.
Nottinghamshire County Council is appealing to communities to take part in the opportunities and get involved with organisations in the area that need volunteer support.
The hundreds of thousands of opportunities are available via the Big Help Out app.
The aim of the initiative is to get people out into their communities, meeting new people, learning new skills, and making a difference.
The volunteering can be done on Coronation day, May 8, at another event or for a small amount of time each week.
Ceremonials minister Stuart Andrew said: "The Big Help Out will shine a spotlight on the power of volunteering to help our communities. It is a tribute to His Majesty The King's lifetime of public service and a wonderful way to begin this new age.
“I encourage everyone to get involved to celebrate the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort.”
The Big Help Out is a formal part of the Coronation celebrations, supported by the Together Coalition.
It is supported by Britain’s leading charities including The Scouts, Royal Voluntary Service, Guide Dog.
Charities and organisations are encouraged to register with the app to advertise the opportunities in their communities.
