Perfectly pink party planned
A woman is hosting a pink party for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The party, at Flintham Village Hall, takes place tomorrow, from 3pm-midnight, to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
It features belly dancers, a table top sale and food with a pink theme.
Mrs Marianne Pickett (61) of Granby Court, Bingham, decided to hold the event because several of her close friends had been affected by cancer and her late husband, Mr Derek Pickett, died of the disease three years ago.
Mrs Pickett, an experienced fundraiser, thought the pink party was a fantastic idea from Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
She said: “I’m just relying on people’s generosity but it has never failed. My friends all say I inspire people to do things, which is my mission in life.
“Instead of sitting in front of the television and flicking buttons, get out there and be involved.”
The hall will be filled with pink, with the help of a party pack from the charity, including balloons, confetti, other decorations, glow sticks and charity armbands.
Mrs Pickett made her own pink tablecloths for the event.
There will be a range of pink refreshments including cup cakes and Turkish delight. Other food and drink is being provided free by Mum’s Healthy Options, and Clive Lancaster Family Butchers of Bingham.
Natural beauty products and jewellery will be on sale, with some of the profits going to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
There will a table top sale from 3pm-5pm and a raffle.
Entry is free but visitors will be asked to make a donation.
