Person pronounced dead after incident near Grantham Train Station

A person has been pronounced dead after an incident near Grantham Train Station this morning.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "We were called to Grantham station at 7.37am this morning following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however a person has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene.

Railway services through Newark may be cancelled, delayed or diverted.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

National Rail anticipate disruption will continue until 1pm.

The following routes have been affected by the incident:

  • East Midlands Railway between Liverpool Lime Street / Mansfield and Norwich; Between Skegness and Nottingham
  • Grand Central between Sunderland / Bradford Forster Square and London Kings Cross
  • Hull Trains between Hull and London Kings Cross
  • LNER between Harroagte / Hull / York / Leeds / Lincoln and London Kings Cross
