Petrol station in the pipeline

Plans have been submitted for a petrol station with shop and car wash on Farndon Road, Newark.

F. Troop and Son Ltd, of Leadenham, has submitted an application to Newark and Sherwood District Council for the former Charles Warner Ltd showroom site, near Mills Drive.

If approved, the development would replace the Farndon Road Spar shop. The application said the scheme would create jobs.

The huge tanks that hold petrol and diesel would be sunk into the ground.

The scheme has been revised, taking into account flood risk, since an earlier application for a petrol station.

Mr Rodney Troop, of F. Troop and Son, said the site would be leased and operated by the company that currently runs the Spar shop.

He said: “The people who are leasing the site have deemed that there is a necessity and requirement for a petrol station.”

Mr Troop said in the past he leased a petrol station on the site for many years.
