The Muskham Pinkies performed the Plough Play in Newark Market Place on Sunday

Traditions came alive in Newark to mark the beginning of the farming season.

The Muskham Pinkies, comprising Dave Haslam, Ian Harrison, Robin Grassby, Simon Symcox, Nick Hutchings, Keith Baines and Phil Beddoe, performed the annual Muskham Plough Play on Saturday, the 20th year the group has performed the play.

A Plough Play is performed by farmers to mark the beginning of the agricultural year, and usually is held on the Sunday after the Epiphany (January 6).

This year’s chosen charities were Prostate Cancer Research, the Youth Cancer Trust and towards Dave Brumptons London Marathon collection, and £300 was raised.
