Plans for the erection of five affordable bungalows were supported.

Newark Town Council planning committee members have supported an application for the development at Bowbridge Road, Newark.

The site is also bordered by the Newark Hospital's new car park, Byron House and the main building.

The plans are for family-sized bungalows, with a mixture of three and four bedrooms.

Access to the site is via an access road serving the retail units and its car park and service area.

Barbara Corrigan said: “It could have been a more ambitious design, these are very generic looking, it is a shame they couldn’t do something a bit more interesting.”

The District Council committee members will have a last say on the application at the next planning meeting.
