Plaques unveiled in memory of Averham, Kelham and Staythorpe parish councillors
A plaque marking the efforts of councillors has been revealed.
The long service award, in honour of the late Mr John Thurlby and Mr Ian Justice, was formally recognised by unveiling commemorative plaques fitted to a bench on Staythorpe Road, Averham.
The plaques were unveiled by Mr Andy Fereday, chairman of Averham, Kelham and Staythorpe Parish Council.
Mrs Maureen Justice and Mrs Rose Thurlby, wives of the late councillors, attended the ceremony.
Mrs Justice was presented with a glass plaque marking her late husband’s service of 32 years as a parish councillor.
The late Mr Thurlby had previously received a plaque in recognition of his 42 years’ service as a councillor.
Mr Fereday said: “I am pleased to have had the opportunity to recognise the commitment and enthusiasm that Ian and John gave to the parish council and to championing the community.”
