Trampolining, football and hockey were among sports offered to children during an activities day at Dukeries Leisure Centre, Ollerton.

Children paid £1 to take part in the sessions and a different activity was held every hour.

Duty manager Mrs Anne-Marie Harriman said double the number of children attended than would normally be expected.

She said: “I think it was popular because of the cost and the variety of activities on offer.

“All the feedback we had was to say they really enjoyed the day.”

Mrs Harriman said the event gave children the chance to try activities the centre had to offer.

A free open day is planned for Monday, August 2.
