A ladies’ pamper evening at the Minster School, Southwell, was such a success that it could become an annual event.

Visitors to the event, which was organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association, could sample beauty treatments and holistic therapies.

Acupuncture, reflexology, neck, back and Indian head massages and nail treatments were among those offered.

There was also an image consultant offering people advice on how to make the most of themselves by wearing clothes that flattered them.

There were about 50 stalls selling a range of goods including leather handbags, jewellery, handmade cards, gifts, pashminas and lingerie.

The chairman of the PTA, Mrs Chris Cureton, said she was pleased with the attendance of more than 165 members of the public.

The event raised about £1,300, which will go towards the £19,000 that is needed for the new school building. The school has to contribute £150,000 towards the £34.2m project.

She said the event co-ordinators, Mrs Julia Hackett and Mrs Louise Rogers, had put in a huge amount of work to make it a very successful event.

The PTA’s next event is a summer carnival at the school on July 17.
