The smash-and-grab burglars managed to get away with an empty till from the cycle shop in Balderton Gate, designer sunglasses from the opticians in Appleton Gate and about £250 cash from Slaughterhouse Lane's mobility store.

Owner of Care Matters Mobility, Claire Nicol, said as well as taking money from the store's wheelchair deposit filing cabinet, the burglars caused extensive damage to the shop itself and has had trouble finding someone to come to repair her door.

"It's such a hassle to have to deal with as they got in by wedging the door open with a crow bar and now I can't find anyone in Newark free to come and fix it, which has been difficult because I still have to open the shop.

"I've been cleaning up around the customers since Saturday," she added.

Officers investigating the incidents believe the burglaries were carried out by two people, one on foot and one on a pushbike.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or has any information about the break-ins, is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting the incident number 161 of June 29, 2019.
