Police appeal after a 51-year-old man is punched to the floor and robbed in Newark




Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a 51-year-old man was robbed in Newark.

The victim was near to an alleyway on Albion Street when he was approached by a man on a bike.

The suspect asked him for money before punching him to the floor and taking a bag of shopping from him.

The robbery happened at around 8.30pm on Boxing Day.

The victim suffered facial injuries not believed to be serious.

The offender is white and believed to be aged in his late 20s.

Detective Constable Andrew Brownless, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an extremely frightening experience for the victim, however fortunately he did not sustain any serious injuries.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who has any information which could help us with our enquiries to come forward.
