Nottinghamshire Police raid near Newark uncovers over 450 cannabis plants as part of Operation Reacher
Hundreds of cannabis plants have been discovered in a police drugs raid.
Nottinghamshire Police executed a Misuse of Drugs Warrant in a village outside of Newark on Wednesday morning (December 28) as part of Newark and Sherwood Operation Reacher.
During the raid a cannabis grow was discovered, housing over 450 plants.
The plants — estimated to be worth approximately £500,000 — were removed and dismantled while the Drug Support Team, Rushcliffe Reacher and National Grid teams assisted in making the property safe.
It was also discovered that the electricity had been bypassed, posing a fire risk to both the property and the surrounding homes.
The police say that established grows like these are often the work of organised crime groups, linked to an increase in violent crime and often trade in human misery through human trafficking and slavery.
