Newark Neighbourhood Policing Team inform farmers and landowners drones will be used
Farmers and landowners have been informed that drones could be used to assist Newark Police in future incidents.
The meeting took place on Tuesday (January 28) and PC Shaw, from Newark Neighbourhood Policing Team, invited local farmers and landowners to the show and tell.
PC Shaw demonstrated his skills as one of the forces newly-trained police drone operators.
He said: "When a call comes in where the drone is needed, it is assessed by the chief inspector in the control room, who will authorise the drone car to attend the incident.
"Authorisation is required to fly the drone in the airspace so phone calls will be made to grant this as well as risk assessments made.
"It is a great asset to the force."
Nottinghamshire Police are in collaboration with Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service and the drones are to assist both emergency services in various tasks and operations such as tracking offenders in more rural areas, locating missing people and using its heat source feature to locate fires within buildings.
