Arrests made after reports of accelerant poured through letterbox at Huddlestones Wharf, Newark

Two men have been arrested following a report that accelerant had been poured through a letterbox.

Officers were called to Huddlestones Wharf, Newark,at around 3.20pm yesterday (November 18).

The offenders had run off.

Neighbourhood and response officers carried out enquiries and two men, both aged 20 and from London, were arrested nearby.

Heather Sutton, district commander for Newark and Sherwood, said: "Clearly this is a very concerning incident as it could have been extremely dangerous.

"We take an attack of any kind seriously and my team were at the scene within five minutes to establish the circumstances around the job and quickly made an arrest.

"The pair have since been released on conditional bail and the investigation continues."
