Several incidents of criminal damage to ruins at Church of Mary on New Road, Colston Bassett
Several incidents of criminal damage to the ruins at a church have been reported since the beginning of the year.
The Church of Mary on New Road, Colston Bassett, has become a target for anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.
Damage has been caused to headstones and the boundary wall has had a quantity of stones removed from it.
There has also been a profound increase in littering at the site, particularly of fast food packaging. Numerous vehicles have also been seen parked there at certain times.
The site is a Grade I listed scheduled monument and is also the village cemetery where services are occasionally held.
It is expected to be very costly to repair the damage and police are keen to speak to a group known to frequent the area.
