Newark police officers step up patrols after reports of man taking photographs of children at Barnby Road park




An appeal has been launched by police, following several reports of a unknown man taking photographs of children on a park.

Newark officers will provide a visible presence in Barnby Road over the coming days following the suspicious incident.

They received several reports on Wednesday, October 2, of the man taking photographs, all of which took place in Barnby Road park between 5.45pm and 6.30pm.

The man was reported to have followed a group of young people from the park towards Sherwood Avenue during one incident, and a seperate report described a man standing on his own and appearing to take photos of children while they were on the park.

The man has been described as around 6ft tall, with dark stubble and boils on his face, and wearing a navy blue puffer jacket and sandals.

Police will conduct extra patrols around the Barnby Road area over the next few days to provide residents with some reassurance.

They are also appealing for anyone who saw what happened, knows who the man might be, or who has any other information, to come forward.
