Newark Police officers respond to criminal damage and anti-social behaviour incidents at Balderton Lake
Multiple incidents of anti-social behaviour at a popular wildlife spot are being investigated by police.
Officers from the Newark beat team have responded to various reports of criminal damage and other anti-social behaviour around Balderton Lake.
The damage includes breaking tree branches, graffiti on signs, benches, and even carving into freshly laid concrete.
Police have warned that causing damage to any property, including trees, not owned by the perpetrator, is a criminal offence and may be prosecuted.
In response, and with school soon due to break up for the summer holidays, officers will carry out both overt and covert operations in the area to crack down on anti-social behaviour.
It comes just a week after Balderton Parish Council installed new signage at the lake with information on how to report wildlife crime and anti-social behaviour.
Officers also encouraged anyone who witnesses damage being caused to report it as soon as possible to Nottinghamshire Police.
