Police arrested two suspects and seized a stash of suspected crack cocaine when they raided a home.

Officers executed a warrant at the property in Queen’s Court, Newark, at around 7.20am this morning (Tuesday, November 28).

They found the suspected Class A drugs, weighing scales, and other equipment associated with drug dealing inside a bedroom after searching the house.

A man and a woman found inside the property when officers kicked down the door were arrested.

Officers from the Newark Operation Reacher and neighbourhood policing teams also discovered an extendable baton.

Under the Offensive Weapons Act, it is against UK law for anyone to keep this type of weapon in their home, place of work, or another private place.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Police Constable Richard Hodgman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We continue to carry out proactive, intelligence-led warrants like this one because we understand the harmful impact drug dealing has on our communities.

“These suspected Class A drugs are now off the streets, out of circulation, and will be destroyed.

“I would encourage people to continue to contact us if they have any information about drug dealing in their neighbourhood. Your information could be a vital missing piece of the jigsaw that allows officers to take positive action.

"I can reassure members of the public that we will always listen and take appropriate positive action to tackle those concerns.”
