Nottinghamshire Police warn residents in Southwell and Newark’s surrounding areas of door knocking scams specifically around roofing

Nottinghamshire Police are warning residents to be wary of door knockers offering to do unsolicited jobs.

"Please be aware that we were advised that a group of six males were offering to clean guttering in the Southwell area for £25," said a police spokesman.

"Once they started the work they then increased the price to £650 as they stated the roof needed repairing.

"Luckily the lady did not give them any money as a family member arrived and asked them to leave.

"They were in a white panel van.

"Please be wary of buying from doorstep callers and only agree for work to be completed by known companies."
