Police are warning residents to be vigilant after receiving reports of abusive people knocking on doors.
Police received reports of a white male and female knocking on doors in Radcliffe asking for food and money, and then becoming abusive and making indirect threats when residents have refused to give them anything.
A spokesman said: "We will be patrolling the area, but residents are asked to call the force control room on 101 if they have these people visiting or 999 if threats are being made.
"Please give a as much information as you can in relation to their description.
"We would also advise about home security and make sure that when engaging with people at one door, please ensure that any other doors or windows to your home are secure."
